The Fabulous 50s!

I’m not talking about an era that our parents grew up in, I’m talking abut the age a lot of us are now. Some are heading there or are looking back in reflection of being there. To reach the fifties we had to surpass all the immaturity that took place in our teens and, even still, our twenties. I’m not saying we were quite mature in our thirties, but we learned some hard lessons along the way about people, situations, and hopefully we are better for them.

Some people in their forties tend to get comfortable in their situations and lay off exercise, diet and figure this is life. Now, I’m just going to live it without care or consequence. Unfortunately the forties can lead into bad health in our fifties.

Fabulous Fifties start the health journeys. We visit our physician and we have to have more blood work, annual exams, and maybe even procedures for questionable results from those tests or exams. Oh, we’re having fun now! We also are better at humility than we’d been in the past. What choice do we have?

Who hasn’t had a health concern? Not many. It doesn’t necessarily mean that anything is wrong, but we remember relatives in our past that had some health problems, so we imagine that the little pang or crackle we feel or hear must be something to concern ourselves with. If we don’t wonder will it be something after all? If we do wonder will we get to the doctor in time to save us?  Yes, it’s a lot of fun now.

Life is this way and has been for generations before us and will be generations after us. How do we prevent what may happen? Having faith that all will be good with us is best. Being grateful everyday for what we have now is also a healing method. Yes, positivity can keep us healthy. Of course diet is key as well. But, having a negative attitude can actually affect your body and mind which in turn can create issues with your health. What do you do?

Start by turning off the television. If you don’t feel you can stand that, then turn it to a positive program. I can tell you the news is not your best source for positive stories. It can get you down. Find a program or get on YouTube to locate a variety of self care videos. There are also very informative videos that keep the brain stimulated. Watching inspirational and motivational programs can be a very healing thing.

Of course, we want to take the best care of ourselves as we can. Keep in the positive on your journey. We’re preparing for the Spectacular Sixties after all.
