Summer is winding down and the kids are back to school so let’s take a look back at the busy summer.
The weather could not have been more perfect. Where did the heat go? I guess the polar vortex is still gripping Ohio.
So summer was wonderful, we warmed up after a long and treacherous winter. We laughed, we played, we mowed, we swam and we enjoyed each other’s company and the beauty of the season.
What did you do? Did you take the trip of a lifetime or did you settle in for a stay-cation? As we grow older and wiser, it becomes even clearer that it doesn’t matter where you are; it’s who you’re with. Family and friends that you love and treasure are the ones you want to spend your time with.
As we watch our children grow, it becomes apparent how fast time really does slip away from us. We become so entangled with the everyday hustle of the school, sport and work schedules, that one day you look back and the years have somehow flown away and we are left scratching our heads and wondering how it happened.
As parents, we only get this short snapshot of time to instill the values and integrity that we want our children to display as they grow. We want them to remember that among all the many wonderful and uplifting things our Lord teaches us, “that the greatest of these is Love.”
So maybe you take one more short trip, explore nature, listen to the quiet, stare at the stars, go to the park, have a picnic, talk, listen and remember that just like nature it’s what you nurture and feed the life that makes a difference.
