The Latest Craze: Yoga Events

Does yoga sound appealing to you? It’s not a strenuous exercise, just a balancing act. Anyone can participate and go at their own pace. What’s interesting is how they are combining events of yoga with destinations to farms for “goat yoga” which has become a really popular activity. Some yoga destinations land you on a board balancing in a pool. That would take a pretty skilled and experienced person to not plop into the water while doing downward dog or planking.

Yoga is the act of calmly taking in breaths and letting them out. The instructor begins with this breathing activity then leads into stretching the arms, legs and torso. Typically you are on a thin cushioned mat to lie on, stretch and stand in the poses that are instructed. Comfortable clothes that are loose or stretchy help the motion be easier to accomplish. A lot of times the activities are outdoors, so light clothing in the hot sun is best to beat the heat.

When goats are involved in the mix of yoga, it’s a fun distraction to watch the goats calling out to their babies or eating at the feed stations that are set up. Some goats are curious enough to check you out and see what you are up to, while others are just searching for tasty clover by your mat. While you are moving, stretching and trying hard to not fall over from balancing, the goats are a great distraction to relax your mind and feel a sense of calm from the activity around you.

If you are really fortunate, you can take a tour of the farm facilities. Mingling with the farm animals, if you will. Not only are baby goats the cutest things to pet and hold, but the chickens, ducks and other farm animals are really interesting to watch. If you aren’t accustomed to farm life, this can be quite the venture to experience. If farm life isn’t your thing, maybe floating on a board in a pool of water is. After all, if you don’t care that you may get wet it could be a really refreshing summer activity to enjoy. Most everyone is focusing on their own boards to balance themselves. Just enjoy the moment of whatever yoga event you may choose. You’ll get something out of it for sure!
