You may have seen the recent news that peach trees in Ohio have taken a detrimental hit due to our polar vortex-of a winter. Some fruit providers say that they will not be able to produce any peaches at all.  Even though the peaches you will be enjoying this summer will not be from Ohio, you will be snacking on other Ohio-bred fruits. Apple trees produce Ohio’s favorite fruits, the most popular being Red Delicious and Golden Delicious. In Cincinnati, pear trees, such as the North Korean Giant pear tree, are abundant. Plums and cherries are also grown in the Buckeye State! Ohioans with greenhouses love to grow fig trees as well. There is only about one month until summer officially starts so I hope you are all excited for delicious summer fruits from our wonderful Ohio trees.
