Have you noticed that when you are out and about you may have looked down, or even up, to find a rock painted with an encouraging message on it? These are known as kindness rocks. Many people are painting these across the country and placing these rocks in random places around their towns.

Groups get together and have parties just to paint the rocks to spread kind messages around. This is in anticipation that it will give the person who finds the rock a great feeling of kindness to pay it forward to the next person who finds it. The idea is to take the rock and randomly place it somewhere else that a newcomer will find it. This has been a growing trend for a little while now.

It’s a great feeling when finding these rocks. You actually feel a little special as if you were THE one meant to be its finder! But, it’s not “finder’s keepers” as the saying goes, its finders and forwarders, or something to that effect. You get the gist of it though. You never know what that person may be going through who does find it. It may change their whole perspective and change their thoughts around to a brighter day.

It’s quite simple to host these parties yourself. Just gather some random rocks that you like and feel would be good to paint on, gather friends, neighbors, family or make it a public event to get strangers together to share in the kindness project. Make it an annual event that people look forward to! It’s fun, easy for all ages to do, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be done by someone who wants to spread around kindness. What a great way to feel good and help others to feel good! Let’s spread some kindness today! Kindness kind of Rocks!
