How will you remember September?

September will forever be remembered in a way that is almost indescribable. For some it's a birthday celebration, for others it may be a wedding anniversary, but for many it will always be about losing a loved one in such a heart wrenching way that most times only tears can convey their feelings.

Husbands lost wives and wives lost husbands, children lost fathers and mothers and parents buried children. The nation grieved the loss of heroes in many types of uniforms and the country turned to a president that felt it down to his core. We were a nation moved to tears, but not to fear.

We still live in the land of the free and the home of the brave, but the lines are becoming so blurred that we search for truth, integrity, compassion and peace. It seems that hearts have grown cold and that the human condition is no longer felt by most. We fear for our children when they are away at school, we wonder when the bullying will end and know we can never turn back time to a simpler, safer way of life.

Our hope as a nation is still rooted in the values and truths of our forefathers and their core belief that we must stand on faith and hang on to the fact that we serve a God that is bigger than anything. We must be strong, compassionate, full of mercy and willing to change and make a change.

It's still our country, one nation under God.
